Joël Berger is a senior researcher at the University of Bern's Institute of Sociology since 2019. He obtained his Master's degree in 2011 from the University of Bern and his Ph.D. in 2015 from ETH Zurich, with a thesis on competition and cooperation. He subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Universities of Groningen, Utrecht, and Zurich.
Joël is interested in the behavioral foundations of the social sciences, with a focus on micro-macro dynamics and social norms. His research applies to issues of institutional design and sustainable development.
